The 2018 Islands Short Fiction Awards will be presented Thursday, April 26th in Nanaimo.
Co-sponsored by the Nanaimo Arts Council, the Vancouver Island Regional Library, and the Vancouver Island University Department of Creative Writing and Journalism, the contest this year received 112 entries over three categories: Adult (writers 19 and over), Youth (writers 13 to 18), and Junior (writers 12 and under).
Judge of the Adult category was internationally-published Victoria author Marilyn Bowering, with Jennifer Seper and Julie Carter of the VIRL judging the Youth and Junior categories.
Over $2000 in cash and prizes will be awarded.
The presentation begins at 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 26th at the Nanaimo Arts Council, 78 Wharf St., Nanaimo. Appetizers and beverages will be served, and admission is free.
